Prominent Yoruba leaders endorse Atiku for presidency

Prominent Yoruba elders under the aegis of South-West Forum have adopted Atiku Abubakar for the 2019 presidency.

Daily Trust reports that the group made this declaration at the end of their colloquium tagged “2019: South-West Speaks” which took place at Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos.

Dr. Remi Akitoye moved a motion for the adoption of Atiku for presidency which was unanimously supported.

They said they were supporting Atiku because of his promise to restructure the country.

Professor Banji Akintoye who is the father of the day said the Yoruba nation is going through a high degree of poverty; “the type we have not seen before”.

He however expressed confidence that the people will rise up and fight the endemic poverty and hopelessness bedeviling them.

Those in attendance include the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje and his running mate, Haleemat Busari, Advanced Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi and PDP governorship candidate in Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
